Default how to get more power without lag?

as in the title im looking to get more power out my 4x4 cossie without gettin more lag from it spec as it is:

t34 with 63 housing
dark greens
s/s exhaust
standard 4x4 intercooler
4x4 exhaust
baileys breather kit

the car is surprisingly quick and beats cossies running geys and all your scoobs n evos etc but i just want more power without getting more lag if its possible lol thinking of 55 siemens and a chip but think am gonna need to fit a rs500 intercooler wich i know will give me lag

had the car running a 2wd exhaust manifold when i fitted the t34 but it drove shit and the lag was real bad so went back to the 4x4 and its nite and day

any suggestions are welcome if you know what i am trying to achieve

lol yeh that would work a treat but dont have that kind of money for a turbo that would handle anti lag but yeh simple and affective

Aren't you a bit limited by the dark greens when having a T34.63? I wouldn't risk running that turbo on full power with those injectors...

I would go for 55 siemens with a chip that suits them and a 500 cooler.

Im going to send your comments to Andy Forrest & Simon Norris they are wasteing their time when a lightly modded Cossie is quicker . My Cossie on greys ran 183mph & yours would beat it WOW!!! your right that would be surprising . Talk facts not fantasy please lad.

As said fitting a 500 style intercooler wont make any noticeable difference to lag but it will help with a few more bhp.

The difference in lag with a bigger cooler is tiny, you wont notice it.

If you want a significant hike in power though, try moving to a GT3071 or similar turbo.

You'll slightly increase the boost threshold (ie the number of rpm you need to be doing before the turbo spools) but it shouldnt have anymore lag (the time taken to build boost during the boost threshold when going from almost closed to fully open throttle)

What chip are you running? how much boost do you run?

Its possible your current hardware (other than injectors) has another 50bhp left in it.

2wd manifold shouldnt cause any notable change in lag from the 4wd one and is capable of flowing more gas (ie can make more power) ultimately, you must have had some other problem when you fitted one.

for a start you cant be running max boost on a standard intercooler so get that changed and crank it up to 2 bar. the ammount of air an engine consumes filling up the little space in a bigger intercooler is fook all, it depends what you want your not gonna make 500 lbft, 500 hp on a yb at 3000 rpm its impossible, it is a choice go gt28 with mega response 300 hp or the sky is the limit but lag increases.

tbh if ur beating ybs on greys when ur on greens your motor is magic anyways lol

Lol fair comment I'm running about 23psi but yeh I know I can't run anymore boost without an intercooler just wondering if I'd keep the quik spool and drivability with the intercooler and Siemens And to be fair is rather surprising no one believes it's stage 3 lol

Rod's best quarter is 11.7 I believe, not bad for a rwd saph at all but thats not really what his car is about of course.

His point that although pitched quite low still flew over your head was that whne you are claiming to beat "all your scoobs and evos" etc, is that there are loads of modified evos and scoobys that would absolutely destroy your car, I would go as far as to say that there are probably more that would than wouldnt now in fact.
350bhp or so (most you are likely to be running on your spec) just isnt really very much anymore sadly mate, so you must have only been picking on the very slowest from these other marques to race.

What quarter does your car do?

This car he is talking about is 1 quick car, it's also true about the 2wd manifold making a severe drop in performance, I'm changing from my greens to run seimens and a t38 just to hope to keep up with him, also away to use 4x4 manifold, myself and alot of my mates have been wondering what is done to his car to make it so fast and the noise from it is frightening, the boys who are saying it can't be so quick it's a fair comment because it shouldn't be with what it's running but honestly it's a fast fast car, it does 12.4 up crail 1/4 mile strip Consistanly all day , and that was a wet day .

the time suggests he is a very good driver, theres a stage 1 skyline that does 11.6 consistantly around 114 mph, his terminal speed will be the indication of power, fair play though hes a good launcher, i only did 12.3 in my old skyline and that was almost 600 hp lol trap speed 123 - 126 mph though.

whats he trapping ?

He said its 4x4, so if he as a real animal he could get that time, i would say @ about 108mph ?

I would go.. 55's... Air injectors.. Wasted spark... Airtec 70mm cooler... Have it mapped with a massive 2.2bar...

Or on the cheap 500 cooler and 55's

Thinking of just plug and play MSD chip and the cooler an injectors but yeh going wasted spark but not for performance just reliable with plugs lol cheers

The limiting factor of your current spec is the fuel injectors, they simply do not flow enough to push the turbocharger to its limit.

So a car with exactly the same spec engine, but with larger injectors fitted allowing it to run flat out, is never going to produce less power.

The next logical step for you is to jump up to a set of 55s, which will not make any more lag, as the turbcharger will remain the same, but it will be safe to run flat out at 32-34 psi peak tailing as rpm increase.

You would need an 044 fuel pump, chip to suit and a set of 55s. aswell as a large intercooler to keep acts safe and under control.

That sounds just exactly what I'm after the fuel pump was always a concern guess I should have gave u a call lol how much would it be for that set up inc wasted spark? Thanks

If its specifically for the drag strip you want the extra power, just nitrous it, nothing else will come close to the gains for the money.

Quick Reply: how to get more power without lag?
