mondeo st tdci heater trouble

Default mondeo st tdci heater trouble

Hello peeps, well yesterday my wife came home from work saying that the heater was not working its best, i said i look on wednesday when she off, but tonite she just home from a 14hr shift and it was freezing and she had no heater this morning or to nite.

The car is running sweet as a nut ect.
what do you think the problem will be.

could be the fan, DC motors can have the brushes fail! but I would check the fuse first!

there are 2 thermostates on this engine I'm sure one is for the heater so at a guess that is stuck shut

for got to say all the electrics work ect like fans

ok can you hear the fan wirr ing when you turn it on? does it blow any air at all? have you checked coolant in the engine? do the pipes to the heater matrix get hot?

fan works its blowing cold air out, yes the car has collant, the engine temp is the same .

I think it could be a block in the tubes to / from heater matrix or matrix itself, as they are normally indipendant of the water thermostat! can you easily get at the tubes supplying the matrix? if you can you can see if its blocked using air from a air line!

Is the smaller one not just for the oil cooler? I changed both on my old mondeo when it wasnt running at correct temp and fixed the problem.

yes it is but I believe this fixes the problem, would need to look as I can't remember but this might feed the heater
