Also the engine has a little feature where it holds the revs for a split second while you change gears to make it smoother. Disconect the map sensor and you loose this feature, you WILL notice it. You will be kangarooing everywhere if you have gotten used to it too
The holed vac pipe was messing with the idle, and as I rarely drive her car I must have compensated for the gear change function. Hence I didn't notice any difference.

The hope just pulls off, I removed the idle speed control valve (and if you have it) the wiring going to the MAP sensor.

A little bit of oil on each end of the hose to push it on and some patients. Will go on eventually.

This is a picture I took showing everything I removed

Think I've named it all.

Have fun
That's a breather pipe, and you removed ALL THAT to replace it? I've done that in about 30seconds on the same engine in a smaller engine bay without removing a thing!

To dan, as it's only a breather pipe, any correct diameter pipe should do the job! Tbh, gaffa tape would be fine.

So it's not a vac pipe?

To be fair he only removed one clip and a couple of easily accessible bolts.

It is a pig to get at unless you've got a child's hands, particularly to push back on.

Nah just a breather pipe. For some reason the block breathers on these vent into the inlet manifold.
And yea it is quite fiddly, and I have small-ish hands. Although When I took my iscv off to check/clean it, the hunting got worse, so I try and refrain from removing things that aren't broken lol.

I popped the F20 fuse (was 10 amp) and disconnected the battery for good measure.

Left it for a while, then restarted the car. Let it tickover for a while, took it for a quick run up the road (god I wish my TDCi got up to temp as quick!!) and it ticks over absolutely perfectly!

I had same problem on my 09 focus sometime would hunt other times would almost stall or stall occasionally.
Checked all hoses and unions all ok decided to change out plugs as a start and on removal found 3 had callapsed to the point there wasn't any gap for a spark problem solved.

Thanks for the breather pipe answer.replaced the longer split pipe with some rubber reinforced pipe cut slightly longer.plenty of room for a more gentle curve. cheers, again i had spent ages trying to find the fault, fine now!. regards Mike
