Question rear hub shims sierra? help??

Right, does anybody know if the bit circled in the picture acts as a shim for the rear hub? Or does it close the gap between the hub and trailing arm to stop crap getting in? if so would i need to make a new one as i dont particularly want a dust shield on the rally car. and mine are rotten.

cheers, Nathan

Could you not just cut away the dust sheild to leave the shim?

you can get camber adjusting shims like that for not much money - i havent fitted mine so cant comment where they go - maybe Ade500 or rsmat can comment as they have them too

ive never liked the look of them camber shims! as you would have to get the hub bearing carrier machined so the hub bolt heads can still mate correctly with there mateing faces on the bearing carrier with it now being at an angle with the shim in there

yes but with the angle on a lowered car, it should in theory set the wheel completely straight on the floor - have a look at Ade500's pics of his 3dr with these fitted. He hastn drvien it yet so cant comment if it will be affected by movement

Yeah but the 4 bolts that bolt the hub carrier the the rear arm will not tighten up against the hub carrier square with an angled shim inbertween the hub carier and the rear arm!

I have the rainbird shims on my saph, they seem to work well as i do get a good even wear across the width of the tyre.

I've had camber schims on mine for 5 years now without a problem.
It made a great improvement in traction
