Just needed some advice, please.

My mate would like to buy a UK number plate car, which is in Belfast
at the moment.The car has been originally been imported from Japan
to the UK The car has been registered in Belfast for approx 1-3 years.
He would like to know if there is any way he can check if there is
any outstanding tax duty on it. Also if there are any customs to pay
when importing it back to the UK.

The car has m.o.t, tax and V5

 

speak to customs and dvla with the VIN

 

With the car being imported into Belfast, it should have had all the UK import tax paid on it already. It would possible have been a different story had it been the Republic of Ireland.

as far as i was aware you could just buy any NI car like any uk car, dont need to get plates etc changed cos its already in uk system, but as said the republics a different matter.

im from belfast mate you wont have any problems, we have plenty english and scottish reg cars here and you dont have to re register them, its part of the uk
