I rang Burton Power today........they said they won't have any in for 3 weeks.

Trouble is I want to have the engine back together ASAP as I'll be working away again for a while.........time isn't on my side.

I've also looked on ebay - there are some for sale but unsure of the quality ?

Any advise ????

just get this pump and put your lid on it . 1/2 the price and it will do the job . at the end of the day a cosworth YB is only a pinto . and i have to ask why do you need a HP pump ??

As per above, why do you want a high pressure pump?

It will increase the chances of your turbo seals being overcome by oil pressure.

when i was looking for a pump matt lewis told me to get one off protech motorsport,
they re on ebay , they have made the pumps for cosworth in the past,
its been 100% so far

Great stuff..........very much appreciate the response.

I thought a HP Unit would flow more oil compared to a standard pump. And therefore keep more oil on more of the components, more of the time.

I've just spent a lot of money on an Arrows Crank, Rod and Cosworth Pistons and while I have the sump still off I thought it would be a good idea to also replace the Oil Pump.

I've an RS500 Engine in my MKII Escort but just running 4 injectors and a T34.63 as I think more than say 350bhp will be too much for the car and my driving skills. A very reliable 350bhp would be just what I'm looking for.

I just want to get it right..........fit and forget

So, a standard Oil Pump would do the business ????

yes mate a standard oil pump will do the job very well . the big thing why motors go sick is the oil that is put in them . iv got a pinto pump in my 3dr here are some photos of my old oil pump that was killed when the crank went and a pinto pump next to it

A higher pressure pump doesnt actually have the ability to flow anymore oil, all it will do is at times when the standard pump was bleeding flow off because pressure is sufficient, it will push that through the engine instead of back into the sump to increase pressure further.

Ie at the times (like at idle) when the pump doesnt flow enough to maintain pressure it will make no difference, the only time it will flow more oil is at the times that you have enough flow anyway.

Ultimately different people will have different opinions, but personally I think that the standard pressure is plenty and that more doesnt benefit you but makes it more likely that seals will fail etc.

Might be worth posting a "is a high pressure oil pump a good idea" thread and see if you can get a few more people's opinions though.
