subaru p1.....
What you think of them peeps? my mate wants one basically at one point my fam had one but it didnt last long enough so [ blew the engine abusing it everywhere] got rid of it so i cant tell him whats it like on all these other things.
whats your experience? high bills? reliability ? what comments you had when out in it? the value on these cars are going up so he wants one to run about 350bhp but he dont want a car that will break down all the time lol. come on scooby owners

There fine maintained right and run on the right fuel. I had the Type R. Running 420bhp 420 lbs torque. Absolutey insane road car. Cost me a bomb!
I'd have another tomorrow.
Do it. . .

why get rid? how fast was it ? the ones i raced are just average so dont know the power but it cant be that much . .. oh and ROB do you regret buying the evo or do you think he should leve the scooby and get a evo ?????????????????????????????????????????

ill give you my view .... ive owned 3 impreza's (2 sti's and a uk prodrive) and 3 evo's (1evo6 and 2 evo 3's) point to point and evo is faster as an every day car and impreza is a winner in my eyes . great car to drive and can fairly move when you need it to ... p1's i dunno im not a great fan if in honest id rather have an sti type-r v6 .
you need to treat them right and no stupid donuts for ages it only takes a split second and she will spin a bearing and cost you 2k to fix it right. id have another impreza in the morning !

i have a newage prodrive running 330 and currantly gavering bits for 400 which can be had on standard internals and maintain the reliability
Nice tight reliable power and not to expensive to get more bhp
I only use mine as a toy so fuel not a problem although some say they are thirsty but what isnt when you put your foot down!
Like anything else, if its looked after it will look after you
A p1 is not really something that you want to mod its a ltd future classic. If its a classic shape you are after i would go for a nice v6 wrx sti type r or ra......280 as stock and scope to go more
Good cars whatever you decide to do
I was plesantly suprised with mine
Regards

P1 is basically the STI5 anyway, if you buy one it's best to get it mapped for our fuel, sounds silly but it's true, Jap fuel is a higher RON hence alot of failures. Ihad a STI 3 running Motec etc etc and that was a hoot of a road car, topped out @ 125mph but fook did it get there quickly, did a 12.4@ 110 at Pod, not shy.
I had a P1 but that was from new and sold it about 6 months later for a 22B..

Bought my first house with the misses. The only reason it went.
I love my Fords but the Type R was something else.
The build thread:- http://m.scoobynet.com/showthread.php?t=499099
Ej22t short block, uprated pistons, rods, bolts, 2.5 crank. 2.35 litre. Md321t turbo, 800cc injectors, fmic, adaptronics management. Uprated headers, uppipe, downpipe.
Near a Ł10k build.

Stick a de-cat downpipe, panel filter, fuel pump, get it remapped and it should do c330bhp on the standard VF28.
www.p1woc.co.uk is the website for them, IIRC the main issues with the engines were an unmapped JDM ecu and a heath robinson in-tank broquette designed to raise the Optimax fuel to the correct 101RON that the car was mapped for... and there is an issue with the shells used in the engines, most rebuilds will address this, however it's worth checking out any paperwork closely if you're looking at one.
FWIW, I wouldn't buy one that hadn't had a rebuild since IMO they are a ticking time bomb as standard.
Cheers,
Grant

22b, now thats a nice car.....very rare now as you know and comanding 20k+ price tags
The rb´s are nice but again are not the sort of car to mod to much away from standard
as said above, very lively cars rack up the numbers very quickly and to put it in context a 400bhp classic will run 11´s
You need to get an sti engined one as they are a lot stronger as standard and the new age sti comes with a 6 sp box and brembros

The P1 is a fantastic car IMHO
Also ultimately the scooby platform seems to have more potential than the evo one although both can do far more than i ever need from a car.
The problem subarus have is that there are so many cheap ones about in the hands of people who dont pay to maintain them properly, give those sort of people any car and it would look more unreliable than it really is.
