Yellow is the radio live.

I imagine the original looms have a take off specifically for the fuel pump relay, ECU relay etc, but having never needed to investigate that part I woulden't know for sure.

why are you rewiring it? it needs to be through a relay buddy.
the wire your looking for is next to the yellow one on the ignition switch.

is it a black wire with a yellow stripe? it is on alot of old fords,
dont forget to wire a cut off switch into the relay incase you have a bump

it will go to the fusebox and supply a good few of the circuits/relays in your car.
what relay have you fitted and hows it wired?
the wire should be black /yellow and you will use it to switch the relay on.

The wire mentioned is the main ignition circuit feed, you can pick a feed up from most things as the relay only draws minimal current, I would not take it straight off the back of the ignition switch though personally!

Trouble is doing it your way the pump will run all the time (Where the ignition switch is closed that is), not a major problem but originally they are controlled by the ECU.

I had a theory but you can't use that where the relay is permantly ground.

In any case as said though any live feed should be protected by a fuse, preferably as close to the power source as possible.

In most cases the pump is rewired with a direct feed from the battery, and the OE relay is used as a "Trigger" for this relay but this is kinda irrelevant in your case as your pump isn't under ECU control, don't forget to use a good grounding location for the pump, some even rewire back to the battery!
