Default Sprint and Hillclimb

Was wondering if anyone on here has done any sprint and hillclimb before. Was wanting to get into motorsport and i think this would be a good way to start. It doesn't seem to be too expensive and theres a local club. Does anyone have any good information or advice in getting start or if theres a better way to start motorsport. I live in elgin in the north of scotland so it's not exactly easy to get to any tracks.

Best thing would be as said above MSA or go along and get a feel for it. My late Dad did it years ago so I have many happy memories of walking through the paddock. The drivers are usually a really friendly bunch and it's quite a regular thing to help each other with repairs/lending parts, even if they are competing in the same class against each other. Friend of mine is an instructor at Prescott and they do experience type days there. Wonder if a similar thing is run nearer you?

Hillclimbing is great as Adam said it's such a great friendly side of Motorsport with such a range of awesome cars. My late father also competed for many years and I have loads of happy memories growing up around hillclimbing.

I can also highly recommend the drivers school at Prescott have have been 2 twice and going again in April before competing there later in the month.
Dave Parr and Russ Ward are a couple of the instructors and both really great blokes Dave also competes in 3 Door Cosworth.

I used to do loads of Sprints & Hillclimbs many years ago in Scotland with my MkII, you hopefully still have a great chance of having fun at a reasonable cost and meeting great folk doing the Scottish Championships.

You have Golspie & Boyndie sprint tracks not too far from you and Alford sprint & Fintray hillclimb near Aberdeen.

Have a look at this site, it should help you see what is available

Kev.
Keep me posted if you get more details.
Longton & District Motor Club organise a sprint series that are done at 3 Sisters and Anglesey, not too expensive i don't think. But you need, overalls, gloves, helmet i think.

Thanks for all the great links. Think i'll join a couple of the local clubs and go to a few meetings to get a feel for it. Sounds like it's a fairly popular thing as well
