Default Which Used Supercharger For 300bhp

Anybody have any ideas which supercharger will be good for 300bhp on a st170 engine? ive done a search and found the m62 eaton would be okay, but i cant find one anyware.
And what induction could i use a supercharger with? throttle boddies like jenveys,or would bikes carbs do the job (nice and cheap aswell)
I Cant afford the already built kits(3k+),hence trying to do it on a budget.
Any advice would be great

I think the M62 / M90 would be perfect. The m62 was on a mercedes something. I'll try to remember the model. No point in running itb's or carbs with FI as it won't increase flow that much....your still feedin them from the SCharger. To give you an idea I run 200 bhp from an M45 on a 2.0 blacktop.

An M62 is ideal, and the way it would fit would be bolted to an inlet manifold itself with a single throttle body before the supercharger:

EDIT: The M62 came off some Mercedes. If you find what you think is one, just google the Eaton part number and it soon comes up whether it is or not.

If its of any interest - my Powerworks ST170 M62 kit might be coming back on the market for sale?

Alternatively I know of a chap who's got a complete setup for sale: Powerworks kit on a ST170 engine with forged rods, pistons, billet geared pump, CNC ported head etc.

Give me a shout if either are of interest

and yes it is a blacktop, just has a silvertop sump and inlet. I now run a rs focus exh mani as it's outlet helps me avoid the supercharger with the downpipe.

If you are going for 300bhp from a displacement charger, you might run into problems in the midrange with not being able to get enough ignition in because of the compression.

That's interesting! What shell is it going into? Like the idea!

I agree they work a lot better with them, but the Jackson Racing kits never did and seemed to perform well, and I've seen many other DIY fits that haven't, although I can imagine charge temps get high.

The jackson racing kits (like the ones they do for CTR's) run very rich to counteract the inlet temps whilst not running much boost. IMO if you're going to be pushing the charger then it needs a good intercooler or good W/I with minimum pipe work to stop a boost drop.

It's already in a mk4 fiesta. Instead of an intercooler I run water injection into the charge pipe.

If you find a rotrex for cheap then buy one of those, otherwise try to find a Lysholm 1200AX (Merc 55 AMG charger) for cheap

I got one from a jag. Think it's the xj6 aj16 engine, £150. Came with throttle body and bypass valve.
Think it's good for just over 300bhp. Think its an M62

That will probably be an M90, which is massive!

Yesterday being 11.19am today?

Well, i'd provisionally sold my Powerworks kit for £1500 but i've not yet had payment. So i'd hope to see that again if I put it back up for sale.

The full engine belongs to a friend of mine who is wanting to put his car back to standard. He's ideally after a standard ST170 engine with all the relevant bits like manifold runner control, ECU etc.

Engine spec is:

9.0:1 Compression Forged Pistons
Steel Rods
Billet Geared Oil Pump
CNC Ported Head

Engine was built by Ric Wood @ CNC Heads about 12,000 miles ago and I did a head gasket on it about 600 miles ago.

He's selling it with a remapped standard ECU which i've checked boost/fuelling/spark on and adjusted to suit - it's dyno'd at around 280bhp from memory.

I think he's after around £2500 plus a standard engine in exchange or £3500 as an outright purchase.

Good deal both of those IMO Will.

Knowing how well they go first hand I;d buy one if I had the spare money.

What cosworth turbo engine?!

I've taken a Powerworks ST170 M62 Supercharger kit off my engine to do a turbo conversion.

I'd provisionally sold it to a friend, but i've not yet received payment for it. Will find out tomorrow hopefully whether he's definitely having it or not.

I don't think i'd be able to squeeze that inside a mk3 fiesta!

It will fit in a mk3!! I've got a lot of clearance in the mk4, and the bays aren't too different.
