Here's a 2wd cossie launching...

Obviously it suffers from lag and a corsa would DESTROY it up to 20 cos it's so shit off the line

look most peoples 3door or saff have no anti lag or launch control thus will struggle to get of the line simples, I can see why a 1.2 light as shit corsa will get of the line better than a 350 bhp saff, but after 25 to 30 mph they are dead.

Cheers johny, i think most people cant read and are just jumping on the bandwagon. I did originally say 0-20 then after the corsa will get fucked.

Simple physics through traction and weight transfer would suggest that the more powerful, even though its heavier, 2wd Cosworth will get off the line and get to 20mph quicker then a 1.2 Corsa.

Seriously, go back to school, and actually try paying attention whilst your there!

Ford Sierra Cosworth (standard):
How fast
  • 0-30mph 2.5 sec
  • 0-60mph 6.2 sec
  • 0-100mph 16.1 sec
Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 (you're lucky I couldn't find the 1.2 figures!):
How fast
  • 0-30mph 3.9 sec
  • 0-60mph no data
  • 0-100mph no data
Would you like anything else with your large slice of fail?

I think i used to at 4k but that was back in the day. I.d much rather go slow and get noticed then boot it when the times right.

They are dead after 0 to....

Or do you think a Cosworth accelerate like this?

0 - 30 16.1
0 - 60 6.2
0 - 100 2.5

It's a bit absurd, if you ask me.

I can see the debate, and I do NOT agree that a 1.2 Corsa is quicker than any Cossie 0-25, all things being equal.

However, maybe if the Corsa driver was giving it 100% and the Cossie driver bogged down and maybe wasn't trying that hard or even reacted late, then the scenario proposed could happen quite easily.

Facts say the Corsa can never win, but in a real world situation of randomness, it can happen

old 2wd Std saff Cossies arent exactly heavy..... what 1200kg??? and new Corsa 1.2's are not exactly light.

Modern cars have sooooooooooo much safety stuff on them and luxury bits.

Yeah old cars, even stuff like 90's Scoobs weigh next to nothing compared to modern cars.

Hold on, the 90's was like 20 years ago now, so yeah that stuff is old

your all missing the point, ok so it may not be till 20mph but the point im trying to make is it WILL be quicker of the line, up untill what point i dont know, depends on spec etc BUT IT WILL BE QUICKER OF THE LINE SIMPLES! even if its just for 5meters IT WILL BE QUICKER OF THE LINE.

And i take your point on board about new cars having heavy safety features but they are designed for town driving, thats why there pokey of the line as there lighter whereas the cossie is obviously quicker after the initial x amount of distance the corsa will pull away quicker, the same way a cyclist or sprinter will too.

I had exactly this with an old mate.. pub talking that his 1.4 nova would beat my 2wd sapph off the line as mine would be all lag??
mine was T3 320bhp 330lb torque and one night I saw him at a set of lights. I sat there for 2 sets of reds waiting for him to come round the roundabout and he pulled up next to me saying ..right I wil show you. lol
4k revs and let off the clutch and bye bye. changed to 2nd looked in my mirror and he is only just pulling away!!

your sapph has problems mate??
