non of the above.

go for a Canon or a Nikon mate. Much better lenses.

Canon powershot A85 or A95 (if you can get it for that much) - great camera with good lenses with loads of manual features.

or nikon coolpix 5200. A little harder on functionality but a great camera.

Thats what I would be looking at

Regards

Jay

This is VERY picture heavy, but all were taken on my Canon IXUS that will cost you less than Budget. https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=70673

Its VERY small.. about same as 20B&H, but thinner and my battery in Toulon would do around 250 images of this quality:

And then recharge in less than 1hr
Dated and quite low spec now but gives amazing results and look at the dimensions on Canons website in that link....

Get something with a lithium battery as cameras that use the standard AA batteries dont last very long. If you want a zoom function then make sure its optical. High Mega Pixels doesnt determine the quality of the picture, it determines the size of the photo. The lens and ccd in the camera will determine the quality.

Thats why a 6.1 million pixel camera for £65 will give a photo at a res` of approx 3072 x 2048 but the camera will have a cheap plastic lens, poor quality ccd and the image whilst big will look shit. Where the £495+ camera will take the same size photo through a proper glass lens, using a high quality ccd and will look excellent.

Beware of camera that state a high pixel rate as some are quoted with software optimised settings which doesnt usually work.

adam,i bought a camera from ebay and im very impressed with it (£129)...it takes excellent pictures under any conditions and has a 10x optical zoom... as tonyk says above, the amount of pixels doesnt tell the whole story and its the quality of lens and ccd...i got this camera and a hp 7760 photo printer and im very impressed with the results, with the 6x4 photos coming out film quality have a look http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWN:IT
