yes....but also depends on wiring in the ignition circuit of the car....

Higher voltage, better spark, bigger gap for boost etc etc.....

no idea what msd sell unless your talking about msd in the US that make coils ?

But the circuit is linked into the engine and car loom so not an easy replacement, easier to replace the whole engine loom LOL

when i was on the std coil i had a missfire above 5k and 29psi, sounded cool but ran like shit when WOT up the rev range. after the grp a coil solid power all the way up. but my grp a coil just died - ithink! naff all miles but maybe 3 yrs old. no spark and coil was red hot.

would never go back but thought it would last longer - next one on its way

Ive got one on mine.I thought for 15 quid it was a cheap mod.

A lad i know had a S2 rs tutbo which was running poor.He reckons that he replaced the group a coil and the car ran 10 times better.

I changed mine as a precautionary measure. For what they cost its a bit of a cheap no brainer.Standard coils are very old now.I only ever had 1 missfire on the original but I put that down to the plugs,so they got changed as soon as I was home.
iirc I was also told NOT to use a non gen one.Weber Marelli is what you need.

It will if you use the group a coil loom as well that way you will definitely be getting battery volts to the coil and not loseing volts via resistance in an old engine loom!. As its power is taken via a rely straight from the battery so with the engine running that will be a little over 12v at the coil

I take it the coil looms are easy to wire in.How many wires does it have.

The black wire is the live, the green is the ground side, I am not sure which prongs but as far as I know only 2 of them are used still.

Yes fallas, thanks for your input. GrpA is on- wired into old loom. Stil got a horrible mis around 1500 revs when trying to pull away when cold. Gonna have to get the loom from msd

I doubt it's that tbh, you shoulden't need to upgrade the coil for it to run properly, most likely you have something wrong elsewhere in the ignition system, i.e. rotor arm, cap, leads, plugs? All have to be in perfect condition.

Usually you will get problems on boost if ignition trouble.
