Default H4 bulbs -.-

when you turn sidelights on the main bulbs light up a but al be it dim can you cut a certain wire to disable that so you just have sidelights with no main bulb on

oh really? should my bulbs not light up at all on sidelights then? as i have LED sidelights and want just them to light up

I wouldn't have thought the headlight bulbs would light up at all with just the side lights on.

ah right then, thanks for that im doing a conversion soon so were see what its like with the different wiring loom in then and if the lights are still on i will do some more research

no need, assuming this is a mk4 escort, there is a relay you can remove in the fusebox that has the same effect. when removed, sidelights are the 501 bulbs only, then dimmed beams are H4 as are main beam.

i did this on both my Escort RS turbos as i used led sidelight bulbs and they looked pants with the H4 bulb on.

That is what i wanted to hear! i will persue this relay later on!

This is called a 'dim dip' arrangement. Lots of cars of the era had it. Perfectly normal and there's no bad earth involved

When you get them sorted your not gonna drive around with your headlights on when the sun is shining like other mongs do.

What so cause we had some posh head lighy bulbs we had to drive around with them on.So all these boyos in the corsas and saxos with these head light bulbs have to drive around in day light with them on?
