Default Ideal run around for winter?

Taking my rs turbo off the road for the winter..Looking to buy a cheap run around. Do any of you have any experiences with a nice reliable small engined car?

Wouldnt mind something thats a bit of fun either though.

Thanks, Joe

Put My Evo in the garage for winter.

Bought a Puma for the winter runaround, for the money and handling not much compares for the money. Cheap to insure, nippy round town, insurance is cheap.

Just watch out for the rust on the arches.

just get yourself a cheapo 106 1.1 for a couple of hundred quid.little fwd cars with little narrow tyres are great in the snow. if someone bumps into it you wont give a fook and if your looking for a bit fun handbrake turn it into a wall or some sign posts.
then after winter rally it down to the scrappy and weigh it in for about £150 ish.
thats what i did the other year as my bmw was a fooking nightmare in the snow and i had the added bonus of someone else sliding into me and writing it off, their insurance offered me double what i paid for it in the first place so it was a win win situation.

Puma, Fez Zetec-S, good shout. Not too mad to run but good fun cars.

I had a Civic 1.6 SOHC vtec last winter, the 125bhp, that was good fun.

Yeah they can suffer from front cross member corrosion, its not structural, and cannot fail the mot, I've spoken to vosa regarding 1 I had in for mot where it was completely rotten through so that the cross member was no longer joining both inner wings
