Default Ford CD 6006 error code 3

I've just bought a 6006 Ford cd 6 disc unit off ebay and fitted it this morning.

It's reading through the discs but not playing them, it's trying to though and then it's showing 'Error code 3'

I've read to try and do a cd reset etc.....

Are these an easy fix? or should I do a Paypal reverse charge?

It'll cost me £10 to send it back

if it was sold as working then send it back..

the CD mechanism on these is quite fragile and if it's come out of a car that been in a smash chances are it'll be buggered..

you can manually re-set the mechanism but you have to take it apart. There are on-line how to guides if you have a search for them.

The cd changer has got stuck because someone has tried to load a cd at the wrong point in time

Same issue with the one in the fiesta but I can't be arsed to fix it

Yeah, ive seen a few like this, take the top off wind the white cog and the cd trays will work to the top, take out any stuck discs, refit it and see if it resets the trays, if it doesnt work after that, its knackered.

I was going to give my old 6000 cd to a friend who was after one as he's done me a few favours over the last few weeks n'all....looks like I'll be hanging on to it

Well I tried......

I press the 'Load' button for the cd and insert a cd and it comes straight back out......it does'nt want to know.

I've tried the reset and various different original cd's and still 'no go'

Shame.......looks like I've been ripped off again!
