Ye advanced driving cualifications can make a difference, as can a decent alarm, something like a fiat panda, ford ka, citroen c1, little cars like that tend to be the cheapest to insure. When your looking for insurance, have a look through your yellow pages to find smaller, local brokers who may be able to quote you cheaper than the big names that are always advertising on tv.

I had pass plus when I passed my test. Made sod all difference and many insurance firms I was ringing for quotes said it was not worth anything.

That was 12 year ago so things may of changed.

KA is cheap, but check the different models as some are higher groups than others.

Adding parents as 2nd drivers can reduce the policy, maybe speak to the insurance companies and see if others things can be done, limited mileage, pas plus, not driving between 1am and 6am etc, pakred off road, alarmed, higher excess.

Could all help it creap down but bet it will be costsly.

Chances are they are going to spoon their first car, so maybe a cheaper motor to offset the insurance costs and a few reminders of how easy it is to end up in a prang when driving like a tit, and the implications of it with regards to not being able to afford insurance after, may slow them down a bit....but i doubt it lol!
