mk5 rs2000's....any good??
Ive got my eye on one for sale on another website as an 'inbetween' car whilst i find an F150 lightning but know fook all about em!!!!
http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/for...howtopic=38296
What are they like performance wise/reliability/rust wise/sellability?? This one does seem clean but not sure if its over/under priced etc.... it falls within my runabout car budget (up to 2k)
Any views will be welcome!!
Cheers

I dont like....
the heated screen, so I got a clear one.
Seriosuly, I did 60k in miles in 2.5 years and was very happy.
In fact I still have mine and now thrash it round track at 130k miles!!!!!

I was thinking of getting an rs2000, seen one not that far from me but it was fitted with a cossie whaletail not to keen on that!
I was a bit worried about the resale value tho, as i only want one for 6 months or so.
Are they quite quick as standard?

resale was my main concern as they do seem to be hanging around the websites for sale for a fair while.
May just get an ST24 or 325i BMW or something....

very nice cars, I had a mk5 for just over a year, I sold it and bought it back again I liked it that much , quite bad on juice (60-70 miles to a tenner) but better on the motorway, really torquey and pulls well, does 138 on the clock flat out on the limiter in 5th , good spec, ie heated screens, lekky everything, fogs, recaros etc. Also has a camchain, not a cambelt so no worries about that, bad points to watch for are badly repaired/rusty filler cap area, bottom of the arches where they join the floor, rear chassis rails rot like anything, and front lower bushes can die fast and kill the cars ride.
not many people like em really, which is a shame as they are very very underrated, don't get a 4x4 they slow as fook, its a buyers market sa there are quite a few for sale, only bad thing is fairly slow to sell on

i had 1 and it was a cracking car. pulled like a train. desperate for another.
very reliable. took constant abuse without probs. not fastest thing in world but generally a good car.
watch out for rust up the back of the dash on passenger side on bulkhead. i'v looked at 3 and they were all rotten there.
getting cheap now.
i paid 2.3k for mine and sold it to a junkie fu*ker a year later for 4.2k nice
