Mondeo 2.0 tdci 'missfiring' at 2000rpm
I have had the problem for a couple of years (running rough/missfiring) at around 1800-2000rpm but was only slight. In the last week the extent has become unbareable, the range has also increased now missing lots of beats between 1800-2500rpm (at high or low revs it is fine, idle is fine too)
I have noticed the brake pedal sensor was very sensitive and bringing the brake lights on, so around a week ago I made an adjustment to the switch to stop false operation of the brake lights (I know when these come on the ECU sends engine to idle). I have since noticed a split in a rubber hose that goes to the plastic pipe just before air cooler (this is under pressure from the turbo) and repaired it, I have had all the hoses off to inspect and cleaned all the plastic manifold, EGR valve and turbo pipework with caustc soda - so all like new now.
The 'missfire' is still there between 1800-2500rpm. It was smoking a lot before pipework/EGR valve cleaned when accelerating hard, it isnt smoking much now but still missing many beats between 1800-2500rpm when holding at that speed.
Does the ECU learn anything or alter at all when things change (like replacement of faulty part), I also have a Probe that learns again when battery is dissconnected, can this be done on a 2002 Mondeo TDCI ?
Now im thinking faulty accelerator/air flow sensor/temp sensors or fuel pump - anyone got a clue?
