Default 1.6 pinto engine ?

hi guys, just a quick Q regarding the kit car my dad has just bought, it had a 1600 pinto engine mated to a 4speed box, the car/engine is from a 1986 Sierra and just wondering wether this runs on unleaded or unleaded with additive? ive not even seen the car yet just my dad rang me eariler to say he'd bought it, will need to learn about these engines now, ha! any help/tips for working on these engines would be much appreciated,

best thing to do is stick the gutless bit of old pig iron in the skip.
but if you want to use it you will need an additive.

The poor old 1.6, takes a bit of grief, not bad for it's day, but the 2.3 real Pinto engine is the one to have.

well my dad will be more than happy with the cars performance, not asking what upgrades was just asking if it needed an additive,

Ave got 2 1600 sierras with 4speeds in them both are c-reg motors one is a emax and one ain't but both run on normal bog standard 95 octane no problems. Good reliable engines tbth I like them.

It will run fine on 95UL just ensure the ignition timing is optimised so that there's no pinking.
