Default Transit connect

A friend of a friend is the fleet manager for a local company and they've got a transit connect that may suit me;

It's a 2007 SWB T200 1.8 diesel 75bhp with side loading door, 36k miles. However, it's a non runner. Don't know why as all he knows is it's been into the main dealer and it was going to be too much to fix. I might get some more details in due course but for now I'm assuming it needs a new engine.

He's said just to make him an offer for it but I really don't know what these go for. Can anyone give me a rough idea? It's not had a hard life so other than the engine issue, it's in good condition.

cheers

Ok, so you're probably looking at a grand as it stands, assuming it requires an engine?

What can go wrong in 36k miles?

I have an 03 plate Tddi 75ps Connect that has done over 150k with no major issue's......

An 07 plate has a TDCi engine I think, is that fuel system more fragile? That's assuming its fuel related and not engine mechanical.......

Yes it's a TDCI. Agree, it's a low mileage for a major problem but someone's managed to kill it! I don't have any details as to what's wrong with it at the moment, just that it's a non runner and the dealer wanted a fortune to fix. Might be able to fix it without changing the engine but I just don't know yet.

cheers

if it's a fuel related issue them it could run into £,000's if someones put petrol in it and ran it to death

other than that, they are very slow as a 75 brake so unless you've been thinking of buying a transit or can make some money breaking it for parts, i'd give it a miss unless you can find out exactly what the dealer wants to fix

Find out why its a non runner first. I have an 05 plate TDCI that went bang fairly recently and to repair the diesel lump was a big bill !
