Default Zetec conversion help!

Hi Guys,

I've got a Silvetop Zetec mated to an Escort van box with LSD. It's all mated up in the bay of my red Onion with a Stainless 4-2-1 Manifold, but the solenoid on the starter hits the manifold. I've been told by some of my mates to try using a 1.6/1.3CVH starter, or possibly a race spec version, but does anybody know of a ford short motor/solenoid....?

Sorry for such A dull question

Cheers in advance

G

Get a starter motor from a 1.1 ohv fiesta, there tiny and give plenty of room with a 4 branch. If its a stainless one prob be from an escort like the one i had and thats the only ford starter i could find that fitted in the space

if the manifold is for a focus you will need to change or modify it mate.

It's because the manifold is probable from an escort which has a rear mount starter motor.

Cheers for all the advice guys, it looks like the 1.1 OHV starter is the one. I'll give it a go.

B19LRW, It would be a pleasure. Do you have any more info on the old girl that would be worth knowing?

How she currently sits:

During the conversion

Engine bay has now been smoothed, wiring running through the inner wings for lights, horn washer etc.

Normally she wears a pair of spots, mudflaps and will be resprayed shortly I hope.....then supercharged.

Quick Spec.

2.0 Zetec, rebuilt new bearings, ARP bolts. Koni adjutables, polybushes RS LSD/New diesel van box....

That orion looks fantastic. Really clean and tidy. Let me know how you get on with the supercharger as well. I hope to do the same in the future

Erm, I'm using the ford mondeo loom that came with the engine out of an early (93?) Ghia which is non PATS (no imobiliser chip) i'm told its only five wires to make it run but if i'm honest i'm leaving the wiring well alone and getting someobody to do this for me I'm not 100% so would like to avoid my pride and joy bursting into flames.

You can use the 130 spec stuff from the mk5 or fiesta on a 2.0
