Question fitting fuel pressure gauge on cosworth?

if i was to stick a fuel pressure gauge on my YB like the one below, where would it need to be fitted?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fuel-Press...item2a12797b51

Would i stick it on the fuel return line coming out the bottom of the regulator?

A tenner is a small price to pay to ensure the fuel pump/regulator etc... are all working correctly supplying 3 bar

Needs to be fitted before the regulator so you can see the pressure of the fuel the regulator's holding back. Easier on a 2wd rail with the short connecting pipe between the rail and the regulator.

I'm not keen on having 3+bar of fuel in my dash mind you, but that's just me. I'd be happier with some kind of MAP type sender in the fuel line feeding an electrical gauge instead.

I think the general rule is if your electrical system's working properly and feeding the pump some decent volts (which you probably already have a gauge for) then there's no need to stick a pressure gauge in the fuel line.

Pressure gauges must be fitted before the regulator, personally just plumb it in between the rail and reg and check the static pressure is correct for the chipset your using, once that's done remove the gauge and fit the regulator back on as standard.

You could check the fuelling with a wideband if your not confident it's perfect

For testing every so often, no harm in that - just I wouldn't have one permanently installed in the dash - there's shonky Ford electrics behind there

You have a volt gauge, but I bet that's measuring volts at the battery, not at the pump?

As said so long as the pump wiring good, there should be no need to keep an eye on the pressure.

AFR gauge would be much better if wanting to keep an eye on the fueling side of things imo.

Bit of a revival but looks like the info might be useful to myself

I've recently bought an FSE AIR001 regulator without gauge... didn't come with operating manual so purchased an inline fuel pressure gauge to adjust the reg.

Going by the above this should be fitted on the return side of the injectors before it enters the regulator? Is this correct?

Have seen them fitted on the feed side previously

The fuel rail is held under pressure by the fuel reg,
The return line to the tank should have no pressure whatsoever.
So you need to measure the line pressure between the fuel pump and fuel reg.
