Default bathurst 87

with some help from a couple of very nice people in australia,

i have atlast got some original pictures of my new car at the 87 bathurst,

this was the first year for the sierra rs500 and had the famous one two for the eggenburger texaco team,

the australians soon disqualified the eggenburer cars so a local guy could win,

here you go,

Well this one is left hand drive, yours is right, I also spotted a battery switch on the scuttle on this one, and air jack connector in the center of the grill!

Am I close?

well not the answer i was after,

thats the 88 eggenurger ANZ car,

allan moffat only leased my car from rouse for two races in australia and so it went back to the uk,

after his first tast in a sierra moffat decided the his best bet was to buy one,

and as the 87 eggenburger rs500 crushed all the other sierra he done a deal with ruedy eggenburger to buy this ex texaco car from him,

and run it in australia,

atleast mine car was the first ANZ car

What rs500 racer was it that ran the engine bay fire extinguisher jet over the intercooler and activated it giving more power....think they got caught out and disqualified

Nope, te video said a fuel infringment - too high a rating i believe.

EDITED: Sorry was half asleep when i wrote that. I thought you were asking about the Eggenberger car that was disqualified.

i beleive that was peter brooks car, in 89?

when he had pole by a but margin,

the fire system nozzle was aiming at the intercooler and was being used to cool the air temp,

= more power

the officals said it was not in the spirit of the event,

but i beleive his time stood,

p.s i have all the bathurst videos as you would exspect

and ever other video that even has a hint of sierra touring car in there

Ive got all the BTCC videos from 1988 up to present, along with Bathhurst 1987 and ETCC '88 Parts 1 and 2.

What other ones have you?

What ATCC are best for the Sierras?

the eggenburger is original lhd,

the labatts car is original rhd

the rouse/moffat car is originally rhd, and has been converted to lhd,

as i am racing the rouse/moffat car soon i will race as is,

maybe in the winter i will change it back to rhd as thats how rouse built it,

rouse used it for the french championship in 88,

and it was then bought by a french racing driver who at some stage converted the car to lhd,

it was still i france up to four years ago when the guy i got it off brought it back to the uk,

it was bought off the original guy who got it off rouse, hence he got the spares with it,

only place i have seen the 87 btcc is e/bay

its very very rare and in two years i have only ever seen two for sale and i bought one of them

the best sierra videos are the bathurst ones and 88/89/90 btcc

the australian ones are quite good, in them there up again the skyliner gtr!

Just been watchin the 88, 89 Bathurst Races and 90 Auzzie TCC - Quality action like you said, much better than the BTCC IMO apart from when Rouse and Soper raced each other.
