just wondering if its legal or not to have things in the boot which block the rear view out of the window?

ive been told if i have both left and right door mirrors its ok.

now i know that to be the case for goods vehicles but is that correct for cars aswell or do i risk getting a tug

so long as you can see from both mirrors i shouldnt see a problem, as you say car derived vans have solid back doors sometimes...
phone the local plod , they should be able to answer your question...

As long as you can see in both door mirrors it's ok. You may still get a tug though to check for over loading or to see if the load is secure and safe.

I've driven hundreds of times with my rear view totally obscured. There's nothing whatsover illegal about it.

We do it all the time with walled audio cars....infact my Previa has no rear view mirror full stop lol!

as long as whatever is obstructing your view isn't unsafe then it's fine, but if it's a load of boxes packed up that might fall all over the place in the event of some sudden braking you may be in trouble if you get a tug
