As title, I'm thinking of a seat Leon cupra r as a replacement for my recently murdered octavia vrs.
My octavia was running in the region of 220bhp, 18's, updated arb's, fmic etc, absolutely loved it as it just did everything I wanted from a car so I'm looking at just getting another one BUT the cupra r does keep attrackting my attention. The only down side to the cupra I can see is the size of the boot compared to the octavia is tiny.
Any one on here had one and can share some thoughts on them?

A friend of mine has just fitted a engine into one of these after the fuel pressure regulator ( I think it was ) started to fail and it melted a piston. It turns out there is a dealer bulletin about the fault.
The car itself had covered 75k and had been modified to 340hp since 10k and had been used hard for its whole life and if the reg hadn't of let him down then it would still of been going perfectly now.
I've been out in the car and it felt very nice, quite spacious inside, certainly a huge improvement on the earlier Leon, as the engine was new he didn't really open it up but I'm told it goes like a missile and stops very brilliantly too.
I was really impressed, nice car tbh, I would just look into the fault I mentioned as it sounds like it is reasonably common and can lead to a engine failure which ofcourse are not that cheap to replace !

Just bought on myself mate silver 04 plate picked it for 3.5
225 from factory and pulls really well. Think as long as cam belt and water pump has been done there pretty indestructible. Make sure the brakes have been done recently as the fronts are expensive being brembo
I am over the moon with mine.
Not too gened up but the cupra r has a bam engine where as the Octavian gas auq I think it is and the bam engine is alot easier tuned as the internals are alot stronger.

Really they're that bad build quality? I'd thought and hoped they'd be much the same as the skoda, many people say the skoda has the sane built quality as it's VAG counterparts so I was hoping the Leon would follow that. Looks like perhaps another octavia for me then as I'm not purely after power, got the cossie for that.

ive had the 180 spec thats not the r and i think it was better similar price golf it was identical as the a3 just cheaper and alot less miles the doors have drainage problems but is easily fixed and the 20vt lump always leak boost common places are the bosch recirc valve the books control the breather check valve and all the little vac pipes under the manifolds
the good thing it for under Ł10 you can get diagnostic that run on your laptop and allows you to play with things like alarm, stereo, interior lights ect
ive not driven the skoda as i was put off by the taxi looks and cheap looking leather
the type r has the bam engine so is 225bhp and just from a remap (and recirc valve change if your fussy) you get around 260hp and 270lbf

See Gaz that's what's making me think twice, got our second munchkin due end of October but then the mrs does have a mondeo that I recently bought so we can use that for carting the kids around, 90% of the miles I do will just be to and from work.
