Default Whats Realistic From A Tuned S1 Engine

Hi thinking about selling/swapping my seat leon cupra and going the rs route (stupid I suppose after spending 4k on modding it) , problem is I love the S1 but want something that can be quicker than my leon cupra which is currently running 229bhp and 230 Torque?

Do you think it would be possible to get a decent s1 and this sort of power for £5k that could be quicker than my cupra and also be reliable?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

do you mean buying the car AND tuning it??

if so doubtfull

you will also have spend a lot of money to get the escort to go round bends half as good as the cupra and remember the age gap between the 2 cars, 200hp in an escort will be quicker than yours in a straight line

i take it you have the 1.8t leon?

Yeah I mean the car and tuning it. I obvioiusly would try to find one that someone has put most of the money and work into it first and I would then finish it off *if I can find one*

Yeah I have a 1.8T 20VT Cupra 180bhp - when it was standard

As to going round bends can quaife ATB diffs be fitted to help with cornering and putting power down?

Or am I justing going to have to buy a 4x4 Sapph thats already modded to say stage 2 as I am sure could find a decent one for about 5-6k

yes you can fit the ATB diff , with the uprated box this is £1k.

somehow i dont think the diff is at fault with the escorts handling!!

a 200hp escort is fun to drive , i have one, not trying to put you off one just making you aware before you dive in

a nice 330hp 4x4 sapph is a much better choice for drivability and general performance but not a patch on the S1 looks

have a look if you havnt already , looks a very good one although the question of the milage is avoided on the post so expect a highish one.

IMO worth a look as you can never tell a car from a spec sheet and some pics as i found out when looking

Yeah I saw that one and from the pics does look mint, I would consider this definalty but you wouldnt want to drive it everyday in that condidtion would you

I would also rather do a swap for a car + bit of cash for me rather than the hassle of selling mine then buying one outright but may have to do this and take my time in deciding what I want and finding the right car for me.

Main thing I need to decide then is sapph cossie or s1 dunno whats right for me and considering never been in a sapph think I need to go in one aswell..

my advice to you would be to scrap the idea of swapping as this is a complete waste of time as your choices will be narrowed down hugely!! plus you wont be able to get a good deal off anyone.

sell yours and then get the cash to buy one, if i was selling a car and someone offered me a swap i would offer them minimal for theirs and not take any off mine.

hope this helps

i have a series 1 which is roughly 200bhp great fun pretty reliable too but then again i only drive it 2 - 3 days a week sometimes only 1 day a week. still cant beat the series 1 looks though everyone loves them young and old as for part ex on yours sell first then go hunting but dont expect to go out and find one straight away i looked at 7 before mine and it took roughly 2 months to find it so dont buy the first one you see

Weight makes all the difference. A S1 with 200hp will feel a hell of a lot quicker than a 200hp Cupra.
