Scrap value of complete car...
...need to know what sort of price people would expect to get if they took a complete (but mechanically knackered) 2001 Ford Focus 5dr to get scrapped at the moment??
I was thinking it's c150 quid just now??
Cheers,
Grant

i think its around £170 per tonne atm, so your probably looking at around £230 ish i would imagine, you will probably get deductions if you leave the wheels on. best thing to do (in money terms, all depends how bothered you are) is take wheels off (if they alloys they will weigh in for around £40, if not take them to the tip on the way home from the weighbridge), battery off and cat off as they are worth around £50 if its an original one

my mate sold a short mo'td and taxed vectra in the quids in (yeh i know old school advertising lol) for £275 and got a scouser with a tranny beavertail from liverpool call him and offer him £240 cash for it no messing,a hr later and he had the vectra onboard and was heading to weigh it in as you get more if you take them direct to where the scrap piles are the biggest,he reckond cars do loads more in liverpool and a cat like on the vectra is more like 60-70 quid and just under 400 with the wheels battery and cat off and weighed in seperate

The scrap merchants at the docks are paying £200 a tonne just now Grant, I weighed in some crap the other day, they charge you if you leave the steel wheels on to dispose of the tyres, ok with alloys I think as he told me last week they pay a fiver per alloy with a tyre on.

Round our way (West kent) a complete car goes down as "mixed Metals" and therefore the heavyer the better.
My Neighbour "weighed in" her Vauxhall Funtrackter a couple of weeks ago, Put a washine machine in the back and a couple of old alloys and got £220 for the lot

Turbo you should know better than that.... If you did that and took it too panda and they Sussed you out I somehow don't think you would be coming out with any £££ or working legs
Up here we have weighed in a few motors lately with a few odds and sods chucked in too up the weight and never came out with less than £250 and normally an average of about £300. Got £98 for 9 alloys last week aswell. Plenty money to be made if you know where to look but too many pikey fuckers at it nowaday
