used one for quite some time and know quite a few people that use em!... very good all you have to do is find a quiet spot on the radio and tune it in.. range is good as is quality though you will probably have to buy em on eBay as they are illegal to use in this country so it's hard to find someone to sell em...

Yep been looking on ebay - quite a few on there - all around the 25 quid mark incl postage.

It was the quality I was worried about - I guess it depends how good your car setup/aerial is?

Was wondering as an alternative whether they could be "wired" in to your head unit as craig says. Whats a KCA420?

I have a sony head unit and cd changer at present (it doesnt play mp3's)

Will take a look at the head unit tomorrow.

I guess you just need a lead from the ipod head phone socket to the aux input?

Nice piece of kit that interface unit - what sort of cost are you looking at?

sounds like a nice setup.

ipod just cost me 300 quid so might look for an easy fix first then look to upgrade the headunit for something like yours later in year.

look forward to seeing the pics!

I use the Belkin Tunecast Transmitter here for mine. When I asked Belkin why they were not for sale in the UK about a year ago, the guy said they are illegal as they transmit a signal which is effectively what a radio station does, thus you need a licence for it. He did say they were working with the broadcasting authority to overcome it so by the look of it they have.

I know of a few in the UK and they are about 20quid here.

Opinions on it: Signal is only as good as FM so gets crackly at times and it needs to sit close ish to the head unit which I cant do easily. For the price, it isnt much to lose if it doesnt work is the way to look at it I guess.

HTH a bit!

Yeah you are right they are illegal. Its also an offence to sell them here but some do.

Went into halfords today they are doing the new Alpine head unit plus ipod interface for Ł269. Searched the net and could get it for Ł220. Maybe thats the way to go long term.
