If it's someone off here, sorry but to put something up for sale with no reserve then threaten to remove it if it's not at a certain price is just not on, and most bids don't go in til the last 5 minutes anyhow!! Anyway I thought you couldn't remove stuff that had been bid on now??

Yeah but why not just put a reserve price if you are adamant you won't sell for less than a certain amount??? That's what it's for. If you aren't selling for less than a certain amount then use one, simple as that.

Because he didn't want to pay Ebay more money no doubt! He has probably had an offer higher than the current price via email hence him doing that. Like i said before would you rather he didn't pre-warn the dopey coonts who want to try and steal it at the end or just pull it off?

Doesn't make much difference. People will still waste their time tracking it and holding out for it etc. Adding a reserve price costs the seller bugger all! It's really not much is it?

Yes that's true, and they do so because they believe there's a bargain to be had. If the guy intends to remove it then it's all false. I see what you are saying also, Spadge and understand it from the seller's side but whereas you have had an offer and let them know, this bloke has not. He's just saying he'll take it off if he's not happy with how much it's at basically.

If he was honest about it all then it would be much better.

This is actually the 1st time i have ever written anything like that i would normally just pull it before the end if i wasn't confident it would make what i wanted! I only did it this time as its my mothers machine and i wanted to save her money and was sick to death of people emailing me wanting to know how much to buy it now! It has 30 odd watchers and just a few bids so i thought it only fair to warn these watchers that sitting on the fence and trying to be clever ie sniper bidding wouldn't get them anywhere on this item

Its up to him what he's willing to take, like most of us, he doesnt wanna line Ebays pockets anymore

as Spadge said, why wait till the end? I never have got that. if I see something I like, I put my highest bid in there and then. Its simple really isnt it?

i totally agree with spadge, the sellers are the ones hard done to, if you put a big reserve on then it costs you a lot of money (even if it doesnt sell), ebay have also stopped us withdrawing the item at the last minute if it doesnt fetch a half decent price(again not for the punters benefit but to line ebays pockets),
i can agree with your point of view, its human nature to try and get something as cheaply as possible , at least you know where you stand. cheers nomad
