trying to find out some info on a 1989 boss mustang
there was a thing on top gears a couple of years ago
these things came out from the factory with 800 bhp
and was powered by a 429 hemi and they was rude
anybody

whos rolling road was that on?

or calculated on the infamous ass-dyno?

Probably marketed as 300+ for insurance reasons but probably nearer to 400.



check out this one with external drive belt and 1400cfm carb

i did have it on video but got lost

in a nascar racer maybe, dragster made loads more.

not in showroom spec.

very rare now.

I know it was a road car. Similar in theory to the RS500, so many of these engines were built so they classified as legal in NASCAR in a Taledega, the head guy at Ford thought the Mustang was a more suitable shape to put the engine into as it has sporty heritage. Bit like an RS500 engine into a Capri.

The engine was so wide I beleive they had to modify the suspension towers to get the engine in!

The 427 SOHC engine is highly prized by collectors and racers alike.
