Default Weird knocking noise 4x4 cossie, Front Diff????

A little help needed on trying to identify a weird knocking noise. it sort of sounds like a bit of metal is dragging on the floor. i have noticed that i have 2 cv boots leaking. any info would be great.

mine is fine when the car is on a rapm or over a pit. it's when it's on the move i get the noise. only reason i noticed it was the shiney bit on the down pipe. it's just hitting and no more. kinda make's a tapping noise then a squeling noise.

I had a knocking noise on mine which was worse going round corners. I found the drivers side front inner cv boot was split and there wasnt much grease in the pot joint. Replaced the boot and put plenty of grease in the joint and its ok now.

If you have leaky boot and knocking that says to me they might be getting dry, so get some new boots on asap. heres the part number from kevin cooper. had to replace one on mine last week. FCB 5002 for the outer cv boots. comes as a kit and is only Ł10. inc grease and clamps etc etc.
hope this helps.

It will be the front prop mate. Mine looked fine and had no play in it until you jacked all 4 wheels up and tried it again and all the needle rollers fell out of one end. Make sure you get it checked mate as they can destroy everything in sight

Just wondering if it could be the front diff now?? ive replaced the boots and re greased the joints. i span the wheels when the car was off the ground and i could here the clicking noise but only slight. It sounded like it was coming from the front diff. is this a possibility?

Broken coil spring? Don't laugh, you can have many strange sounds due to this particular inconvenience, bits of the spring clipping the wheel, or the wheel hitting the mud guard bracket due to reduced ride height.

ive just topped it up with new millers oil dont really wont to take it off. there seems to be alot of play in the shafts when you turn them by hand. this noise is really annoying me now.

You can fit a grease nipple instead of the grub screw ;-

As via balance weights some people just drill and pop rivet them ON :cry

LOL after the UJ refurb the boss of the company asked who the fuck sold you that

check your dtivers side engine mounting (jack the engine under the sump)
if thats gone which it will at some point the engine could be lifting enough to cause the exhaust to touch the front prop
