its about 20bhp @ 300 bhp, in some cases, depends on many factors of course

I run mine on higher octane because it states so in the rouse book, not sure if its had much impact but its running 21bhp over standard rouse figures.

on older cars like ours it doesn't make any difference putting in "super" unless it's tuned/chipped to suit......newer cars can adjust themselves

thats correct, it will have to be mapped with more ignition advance, and something with a knock sensor will self adjust (some better than others!)

Some older cars will only run on Super. RS Turbo on 95 means goodbye engine. LoL

Even at standard boost level, the engine was designed for 4* fuel not unleaded. Fiesta Turbo's were a bit more resilient but you'd need rocks in your head to drive briskly on it

Really? 7psi is not really turbocharging, and cvh's can run unleaded no probs, all the heads have hardened valve seats

I believe you can fit harder valve seats but 95 isn't as knock resistant so why would you sped out to go slower?

not sure what sped out is, on an old cvh at 7 psi boost i doubt you would notice the difference between parafin or 105 octane. But when its tuned a bit and making 20 psi of boost, of course you will need super unleaded

*spend* sorry, bloody phone auto corrects my typing to what it thinks rather than what I want.

Even at 7psi I beleive you need the extra knock resistance of the higher octane fuel. That's the advice I was given years ago and it never got me in trouble. I do know a few people who ran on normal unleaded. A knob I used to work with always moaned how his Series 1 was crap as it kept "blowing up" in his words. He wouldn't pay for Super unleaded as it was more expensive. Obviously not as expensive as keep having the engine repaired

how is pushing compressed air into the manifold at 7psi not really turbocharging? its well above atmospheric pressure so must be doing something!

Thumbs up

I believe the Rouse must be mapped to suit then, as the owners fluff it recommends running it on the higher octane fuels.

Don't think I ever felt the difference on the Focus ST. Only difference was that I got an extra 30 miles per tank. Well worth the extra £3
