I bought a mk2 escort, 1979 1600 ghia a few months back... its got that disgusting 2-spoke steering wheel like a fiesta popular, lots of people have said its the wrong one for the car but my grandad had a mk2 with the same one in the early 90's.... Anyway as soon as i bought the car i thought id rip it off and stick the 3-spoke one off my capri on it for now (from a 3.0S, looks the same as the standard escort RS wheering steel...), but the splined bit of my column is too fat!
I assumed that capris have a different size steering shaft, and bought a nice mountney wheel off ebay which was allegedly fitted to a 1980 mk2 1.3l... Same problem again! It fits my capri, or my mates mk1 escort!!! Basically the hole in the boss is smaller than the end of my steering shaft. Cant find any info or hint that there are different size steering shafts on mk2's, can anyone shed any light on the situ for me?
