sorry not ford but need help just the same .i got a 1.4 auto astra and have changed the battery and alternator and the car will run fine for a while then there is a massive power drain enough so it flatens battery very quickly when running fine alt and battery are fine giving almost 14volts then when it starts to drain gives no volts and totally flattens battery very quick any ideas much apreciated cheers

ignition switch holding the starter in mesh put yr hand on the starter when it does it bet its red hot

ive just fixed our second combine due to mice chewing wiring causing a short and draining batterys, the only way to find it is connect a multimeter between earth cable and battery but make sure its on the right setting and pull all fuses and see if drain stops, if it does just trace it from there. you may have tiny drains due to alarm etc but should be very small.
