Anyone able to link me (or help with) a SportKA buying guide?
As title I looked in the Ka forum section but it has...1 post?
I am taking my girlfriend to view a SportKA on Sunday, I/we don't know loads about them and I'm no mechanic but I need to collate a checklist asap so we're prepared I was wondering if anyone knew of a guide on here, I'm not having any luck with the search function.
If there's no guide already done, can you guys help with a quick run down of things to check, common faults etc?
Thanks guys.
Dave

just bear in mind when viewing sport ka's as with any ka they rot like fook! one of the worst modern'ish fords for rot in my experience look in all the usual places chassis legs, sills and corners of the floorpan

Thanks mate I am going to have to try my best to check this stuff out, I'm not mechanically minded at all really but if I can get the theory in place (hence the checklist) hopefully I won't miss anything and end up with a rotter on my hands

Rust
- sills
- under rear lights (inside boot)
- fuel filler cap (this ALWAYS goes)
- a pillar bottoms.
Mechanical
- Lambda sensor been changed at all?
- heaters can go cold and hot,
- all locks unlock freely
- wishbones
there is probably more i could think of. they share nearly all parts with the 1.3 engined 2002> ka so are easy to get bits for.
Id suggest if you do buy it that you get some decent brake pads, and dont expect 40mpg

Spotted some of your other underhand tactics on the net...

You claim to build communities, and not be in it for the money, but your tactics seem to be to ruthlessly promote your own sites on other sites and using other sites keywords, as well as trying to mislead wiki users that yours is the only resource available.
I don't understand why Myka had to come back, since it closed several new sites started, and are thriving. A sub forum in Talkford would have been more than adequate, yet for some reason (which I cannot fathom unless there is financial gain) you decided to buy a site that had closed over 2 years ago and attempt to make it look like an active site again.
Yes, there is a lot of historic data on there, but it's all over 2 years old and all of the users have moved on long ago. I hope you can see that this would be viewed with suspicion by a lot of ex users, particularly given the Issues many of us have had with our old content.
What is your "plan"??

The op,politics aside of some Ka forums,as listed above rust and accident damage are the main issues, mechanically their very tough, just the usual lower arm and anti roll bar bushes.
Be aware their crap on fuel and I think their £275 a year to tax,I didn't really find them any quicker than the 1.3!!!!
They do handle great and look nice though and IMO are one of the best little cars on the road, kas are pretty tough in a crash as well,I've repaired loads of them, they really stand up well, far better than the equivalent Clio, which IMO I'd rather be on a moped than in one of those!!!
She'll love the car though, girls always do plus it'll put a big grin on your face as well.
Oh,one more thing, get the thermostat changed ASAP as they have been known to fail and no temp gauge means that your mrs may just mention that a little light flashed on the dash and suddenly steam came out from under the bonnet!!!
I doubt the whole job would cost more than about £80 at a garage as it's really easy.

Fook me what a bunch of immature fucktards above...
Check as well for oil usage, 2 of my friends have had sport ka's, and they have both regularly needed the oil topping up.
Put an open cone air filter on them and they sound brutal!

Thanks for the info everyone, got loads to go on now, all in all they sound good little motors, all cars have problems but luckily everything mechanical is dead cheap on the little Ka's It's just the rust to mainly look out for I think, will go over the service history to see what bits have been swapped.
