Default Will this work? Cheap mod.

Hello,

So been sitting here thinking and will this work.

The MG has standard air filter and exhaust, but if i fit a aftermarket air filter such as K&N filter, then go under my car and cut with a friendly grinder the middle box off and replace it with some "Polished Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipe Tube" from eBay (first link but the right size) thats just abit bigger than my exhaust pipe so that it slips over both end so i just jubilee clip it on.

Will this improve the air flow into the car and out of the car? or would the back box need removing too so that its like a straight pipe through.

If i leave some pipe on from the boxes then when a MOT comes around just put them back with the pipe used as a sleeve.

Will this improve in ANY performance or MPG? Also will the sound, sound really shit?

If this is such a stupid idea then please tell me

Not this filter but similar. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/K-n-Induction-...#ht_500wt_1156

Many Thanks Eigdoog.

it will sound shit and probably lose a bit of power i used to make stainless exhausts for a living there is a lot more to gaining power from an exhaust than just chopping boxes off and piping it back together
why dont you just save your money to spend on the cossie

im sure someone will come along in a bit and explain how NA engines need a level of back pressure to function properly. the idea of just fitting the biggest diameter exhaust just will not work. Wish someone would tell the CHAVs though
