Default legalities driving a car transporter?

hi chaps does anybody know the legalities ( not sure if thats the right word) about using a car transporter,basicly im thinking of buying one to transport my car around to tracks shows ect but im 22 so im on the newer licence.iv also heard a rumour about they now need to have a tacograph fitted? the vehicle in question is a converted transit.any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated

will only need a tacho if its over 3.5 tons (gvw /gtw ) and used for hire and reward i.e if some one pays you to take there car some wear but then going by the rule book if you are raceing for a prize then that is also classed as reward but you would have to meet a real twat of a vosa man to enforce that lol

yes id like to know this as well , as i can only drive up to a 3.5t van.

i think before 97 u could drive a 7.5t

no you can drive it fine mate as it for pesonal use what track car you got as you need to watch your overall weight and axle weight too

cheers mate thats brilliant,its a mk3 fiesta not finished yet tho but the transporter has been offered to me for decent money and i know its history

aslong as it weighs less than 3.5t(plus 200kg) fully loaded you'll be fine and private use dont need a tacho and there are no restriction on driving hours either.

whats the plus 200kg about mate as i have had it made clear that they give no allowance at all to being overweight?

Aslong as you arnt over 3.5T total weight your fine on your standard licence

there isent its 3,5 ton gvw or 3,5 ton gtw for tacho law unless only used the private use

you can drive it on a normal car licence, you wont need a tacho unless its being used for hire or reward which has already been said,
