Speed limits.
whilst travelling to work today i had to travel on a 3 mile dual carriageway. i was travelling behind a police van doing approx 65/70 mph. i though the speed limit on a dual carriageway was 70 mph so stuck to it. Anyhow i see a police saftey camera van further up the road so dont go over 70. i was doing about 65mph just to be sure. Ive just checked the highway code and it says i should only be allowed to do 60 mph in my van (its a renault traffic) so if they play it by the book i might get a speeding fine through.

That pretty much means ever new van on the road. Even the likes of VW Caddy's etc are well above the 2000kg
Doesnt matter if the van is empty and nowhere near 2 ton, the law is just plain bollox.
In the case of a dual carriageway, max for you will be 60, unless signposted for a lesser speed.
The only possible exception, and I'm not 100% sure. Is a crew van style vehicle. ie "People carried" but with a large boot, and max of 7 seats.
Technically you could say it isnt a van, but not sure where the law stands.
if it's capable of carrying 8+ then once again it's into restricted speed limits same as minibus etc.

I was done by the scamera van at 80mph on the motorway (70 + 10% + 3mph) £60 + 3 Points.
