Escort Cossie pricing....

Escort Cossie pricing....
... hypothetically speaking of course, what's an average condition Stage 3 K plate Escort Cossie typically worth these days? Usual sort of mods like 18s, lowered a tad, couple of shiny bits in the bay? 100k miles, but good working order. AP brakes on the front.
Looking to buy one maybe, as a summer toy, and have heard of an ok looking one, but no idea on current values. Ones on here and RSBB seem to go for prices all over the shop.
Are they really £10k cars? Or £14-15k?
Si

Have been doing a nosey round, ace car's like Dave Moss's at £15k for 500 bhp K plate, through to £25 k for low miles Auralis cars, to £9k stock looking L plate shitters.
Fook knows, the money seems all over the place.
Just an itch I want to scratch, hence thinking nice mild spec Escort would do the trick for a bit. Didn't want to offer too much, nor too little but seems therer's no set price for them.

Stage 3 is 500 bhp right?
True, I personally thought the one I'm looking at would be a £15k car, then you see how good Dave Moss's 500 bhp one is at that money, and it makes this one look more like say £12k. Mad, I am out of touch with Cossies as I always thought they'd be that money or more, and holding it well.
Sign of the times I guess.

Should have bought nearer what I ultimately wanted in the first place!
Cheers, that's what I'm starting to think looking at what they've gone for on here... seems crazy low for what were just a few years ago much more expensive cars.
Evo world is the same now, if you have cash it's deffo a buyer's market!

Escort's are all over the place cause there are so many for sale at present. People cannot sell them due to so many people being out of work, no spare cash, etc and thats the main reason people are selling them imo.
Minter's go for £15-£18k and sheds go for £8k. You will be looking about £10-£11k for a mid spec'd one imo
p.s. Get on www.EscortRSCosworth.com and look in the for sale section

ah....getting the itch back Si.
you know you will want it decent bhp so try to get one done, a bit similar to Daves car, as you would spend a few ££ on getting it to that spec anyway, only problem then is transmission problems....as you know.
if you can cope with the stage 3 ish spec....350-400 then maybe standard ish trans will do you Si.
tbh, it all depends on what you have to spend on one from the off.
be good to see you on track with one...see how hard it is to drive compared to the evos.

3 door is another option, but this Escos has tempted me, so thinking about it strongly.

Anyone know how much or little Stolen Recovered affects the car's value? Seen another at £10k but it's stolen recovered, what would it be worth normally? A couple K more?

I've always liked them, but in my Saph owning days, Escorts were too much money and I was always skinto.
What's a stolen recovered Escort shell worth though? As I guess that and the motor would be the two key things to get good money if I break it once I'm done with it (or once it breaks itself ). Again going back to the old days, saw shells going at £3.5k alone once upon a time. Are they worth that still?
I'd hope to buy it, run it for the summer, and sell it not loosing too much once the itch is scratched! Or break it if it doesn't sell whole.
Sorry to burst your spidey sensing bubble Grant, that's not me! Too mint and not nearly modded and messed around with enough for me!

Have you spotted the one with the straight cut box on www.escortrscosworth.com, abit more than your looking to spend but a hell of alot of car for your money (i dont know the bloke BTW).
Ive been keeping an eye on prices myself and like you say they have dropped alot, and as you say seems to be a sign of the times, BUT WTF has happened to saff prices ? Ive seen 5 in the last month for around 10k, clean examples but stage 3 at best ! Do thay actually sell for that sort of money ?

I sold mine in December 2009 for £11700. Was well above average condition with original panels, 109k with FSH and loads of receipts & paperwork, 5 owners, usual stage 3 spec and nearly new 6 pot AP's. Engine was sweet considering no rebuild but did have a few oil leaks. It had had a new gearbox and turbo in it's life and drove like a 40k car IMO. Leather had worn well too really. Underneath was solid as a rock, in fact the guy who bought it had looked at 5 so called minters with low miles and they were all rotten! The only thing I spent money on in 2 years (apart from oil and filters) was when the engine mount let go but that was my own fault for not checking them for wear and tear. All in all the most reliable Ford and most enjoyable to own despite the questionable handling as it always seemed a bit soggy on the Konis.

Cheers mate, would have kept it but I've owned my S2 for 6 years now and couldn't face selling it. Also got my track too and found it hard to do justice to the 3 cars and when you throw in a daily it gets silly lol! I will admit though £3-4k more does get you a nicer spec car IMO
