ok it was my first attempt at paint spraying earlier
yesterday put the car in 2 pac primer absoloutely spot on no runs or reactions well pleased
then today flatted it back, panel wiped it then applied a dust coat of the base coat once covered everywhere and left it to dry
it looked like a spiders cobweb i couldntunderstand what went wrong and still dont
so flatted it bck and re done it and this is how it looks
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/xr4x4rs/my%20project%20xr4x4/DSC00059.jpg)
i havent a clue how to get rid of it
the car is being picked up on friday to get painted i thought why i have it back off the old paintshop id paint underneath and inside
underneath is very good just the inside
another thing is i painted the car at the beggining of the month with sum grey stone chip primer to tidy it up a bit
now when i flat it back it comes out in lumps and its the grey stonechip thats still wet?
even though this has had a month to dry
so is this my problem
the primer has reacted with the stonechip?
just for future reference really as im fed up of it now and going to pay the bodyshop to do even though they havent ben told yet
any ideas/help much appricaited as im going to do diy paint on my escort when the sierra goes
thanks

If you have been using anything containing silicone anywhere near the surface you are painting it will cause it to react like that! Only a small amount in the atmosphere is needed!! Is it just reacting where you stone chipped it??

Also whatever is on there must be dry before over painting especialy if you have put it on an inch thick which it sounds like you have with the stone chip!

Looks as tho what ever was under the coat of paint isnt or wasnt dry when the top coat was applied.....
Strip it right back and re-primer then repaint......Could be a dodgy tin of primer, paint or something else...
When it is silicone it normaly ends up with small holes/pin pricks in the paint rather then that effect.....
Hope it comes out ok m8

looks like the top coat that was put on was too wet and the thinners have reacted with the paint underneath.
Always do two thin dry layers of paint to seal if you don't know what has been used before as 2K will react with acrylic and celluose and visa versa

I also had a bad one once ... I chemically degreased a surface before painting ... Later I had loverly "crows-feet" all over the bloody thing. Must have been some solvent left in the below layer

flat it right back, dust a light coat primer on , wetflat, buy some panel wipe for 9 quid and clean the whole area, dont put loads on though as it can leave residue which shows though the base coat so make sure well wiped

What you have there is what we used to call "Pickling"
We would typically see it if spraying a cellulose paint over a synthetic.
Two pack can be a funny animal. Whilst virgin, if you spray a cellulose over the top it will pickle.
After a good curing time, 2 pack forms a hard skin that will accept cellulose.
Basecoat is cellulose based.
Could be that you didn't use enough hardener or thinner in the primer maybe.
RobS's idea of barcoat is probably the best, but don't do anything for a day or two. This will allow the 2 pack to stabilise.

i wiould say it's solvent crazing due to celly thinner in 2k base coat, or acrylic paint
reacting with the base coat or laquer, best strip it back barr coat and start again not putting the paint on as wet

My sprayer had this exact problem in the same circumstances
The problem was that the 2 pack primer had not been heat cured in an oven as it was a local repair in a normal workshop and was then reacting as a wet base was applied
The solution was to apply local heat using an electic bar heater to dry the solvents out of the primer then the same once a light base had been applied and this solved it
