it's a bit confusing because they are dropping the vehicle sizes as well at some point and it's soon going to be anything over 3 years old

the cab drivers are doing their nut about it too as some of their motors won't pass

"What emissions standards will my vehicle need to meet?
The LEZ emissions standards are based on Euro standards for the emission of particulate matter (PM). PM is very fine particles of soot emitted by vehicles, which have an effect on health. This type of pollution can contribute to asthma, heart and lung disease, other respiratory illnesses and even early death"

if they lowered the fucking petrol prices then maybe we would not have to all drive bloody diesels
thankfully i rarely go into london so its not a huge issue for me personally but i doubt my citroen zx TD will pass the emission limits

Couple of customers of mine have come to me in recent weeks since this was all announced, tradesmen an such who have to drive small trucks into London and it means they are all buying new vehicles. Naturally I'm happy to oblige them some financing when they need it! But it's a huge cost unless they don't work in London, which for a lot of them is where most of their work is.

I can understand we need to get pollution down, but surely in these times you want to encourage business to grow, not cause them some extra hardship by either charging to take their work vehicles into London or require them to put up funds for a new vehicle. It's just and unnecessary hardship.

yeah as of jan next year any diesel van which isnt a based on a car, needs to be I think euro 4 spec on emissisons, which is any vehicle older than 2001 I think, but the daft thing is if you drive a petrol van your exempt so what a quite a few people are doing is fitting petrol engines to there older non compliant vans as its cheaper than buying a newer van.

The Mayor has confirmed the Low Emission Zone will now affect larger vans, minibuses, motor caravans and other specialist vehicles from 3 January 2012.

Dont think its go much to do with polution as surely all vehicals run on diesel commit polution?

As in your perfectly well maintained van you do 5000 a year in, has years of life left, but wait you need to buy something new and compliant made then shipped from abroad, how much polution does that create?

Its just the government are cunts and the mayors a cunt, its just a poor eccuse to make more money. Cunts

Im ok, my pickups euro 4, shame the dpf is fucked tho

Governments honestly believe that motorists are an inexhaustible supply of revenue . . . council parking fines, congestion charges, fuel duties, green taxes . . . whatever.

This is simply going to kill a lot of business and create unemployment. Trucks cost a fortune.

On the other hand, there is plenty of nuclear waste lying around in a thoroughly dangerous state and nothing is ever done about it.

Well, if its not, they are using the excuse that London is not hitting its European emission laws as an excuse.

But dont bite my head off about it, its just the excuse the government are using to get people to buy more vans and trucks.

Funnily enough, Busses are totally exempt from this rule and they are probably the biggest polluter going!
