windows firewall....any good?

Default windows firewall....any good?

just installed service pack 2 after a format and when i restarted it shows that windows own firewall is running....is this any good as ive just connected to the net and it didnt ask me to grant access like my old mcaffee does

It's not a bad firewall, you mustnt confuse a firewall with anti virus tho.....

unless you are one of the chosen few, SP2 will make everything major slow until u turn off everything it's installed..

mine run a treat,but i might be a lucky one,although i dont use the fire wall as i have a hardware firewall

it's better than nothing, but its not great. if youve got another software based firewall program, use that instead/aswell

Jim, help me out here then fella - it's running fine here on a domain-based system. Never causes any problems, always behaves, and hasn't stopped anything else working.

Granted it's a little awkward to configure for programs that need more ports than usual open, but generally-speaking it's better behaved and uses less resources than Kerio (which I swore by before now).

Is it just that you don't trust Bill Gates or is there another reason you don't like it? Think I should lose it?

i must be one of the chosen few never slowed me down when i installed it before..... but ive gone back to my avg7 and mcafee firewall.
