Default Mk1 focus a/c problem

My a/c seems to be stuck on all the time checked the relay and it seems fine anyone had similar problems. when you pull the relay the a/c compressor disengages but the a/c fan still runs. Could it be the actual switch itself jamming on
The car is a 54 focus st170 if that helps

Exactly what he ^^ said, check this first, as when on the windscreen position the A/C runs!
