If its a new shell then by definition its neither rs500 or not, as the shells are the same anyway, wether its a C reg 1.6 3 door sierra or a 500, the shells themselves are the same, the minor differences you see quoted like the battery tray etc are done afterwards anyway.
The owner of that RS500 is not far from me and he has loads of RS's and is not short of money hence why it's been for sale for ages.
He also has Martin Johnson's moonstone RS500 and a few others
Judging by jay's description tho it seems it's one to avoid

it was never 510 at the wheels.i ran it to my local rolling road place once i had it finished and he did a few runs and said it was if i remember right 510-520 at the fly.
hell of a fun drive and a very strong engine.seem to remember stu commenting on how strong it went when he and kenny mapped it.
annoying thing with the car is if he was more honest with his description and history of the car(like i was when i sold it) then he would probably stand a better chance of selling it and even if he got 14k,it would be a tidy profit(unless he has spent a fortune on it)

that rs500 is the genuine car, it was originally for sale at a salvage yard in heywood lancs, the damage was to the passenger A pillar, wing & bonnet, my friend bought it, i supplied the parts and another friend with an insurance approved garage repaired it, the car itself had actually killed somebody in the incident, .... it was bought from salvage for Ł6500 then i was offered it for my 3dr + Ł1k, wish i'd have had it now
, it changed hands a few times up near me until jay bought it..... hope it clears a few things up,
cheers

Freaky
so the car hasn't been shelled just repaired - well if thats the case it ain't all that bad as i've rebuilt RS's right back to the gut's of the shell which is a lot less work than this has had and they sold no issues with all the work photographed
