soapy water and a toothbrush.. make sure you dry it after you rinse it otherwise it will corrode again.
if its off the car then pop it on a radiator, if its in the car then I guess its gently dry with a heat gun..

make sure you disconnect the battery...

my old man did this to my Innovate LC-1 as water go into it and corroded it.. washed it and brushed it with soapy water.. I trust him - he was an electronics engineer for many many years..

or if you have some alcohol around use that instead of water.

could be used to dry it out?

I'm not familiar with the escort fuse box if I'm being honest. But could be worth trying if no one else comes up with suggestions..

If it's bad you can use wirewool to clean them up, if mild, alchohol may do the trick - depends if it's crud or tarnishing! To prevent further corrosion, use something like this: http://cpc.farnell.com/electrolube/s...in_merch=true&

Soapy water will remove RESIDUE, but won't touch the corrosion itself.
The best stuff to use is DE-OXIT, and a toothpick, the toothpick is used to gently hold the terminal apart so the de-oxit can get to the area needed, only 1 single drop is needed on each side, just as well as for around £25 you only get 2.5ML!!
I get this from 4 sevens.com, and use this extensively on electrically/chemically/battery corroded items, mostly contacts, switches etc.
The beauty of this stuff is it is ONCE only, it seals the terminal preventing any further problems, and ensures perfect conductivity.
It is also ace on the door pin switch contact faces for the interior light switches, as well as the light switch on the interior light itself, stops the flickering etc.

It won't restore the missing coroded material but will make it perfectly conductive again, will still look the same ie coroded but work 100%
