All the facts :--------------------
The only 3doors to be proven past 180mph are as follows
1. B. Read RS500 191.6mph
2. K. Sharp 3dr 183.0mph
3. A. Wornell RS500 182.9mph
4. B. Read 3dr 182.6mph
5. L. Manning 3dr 4x4 181.1mph
6. L. Cattermole 3dr 180.4mph
Bruce appears twice in different cars. Lee is fastest 3dr dragging 4X4 transmission.
Near optimum runs are-
M. Hadland 194.6mph with 626bhp
M. Shead 183.0mph with 485bhp
D. Moss 178.5mph with 430bhp
The three runs above are the best runs down Brunters most runs including the 200mph efforts were not close to optimum & could be improved.
Fastest of breed
Sapphire 206.1mph - 800bhp
Escort 200.2mph - 700bhp
RS500 191.6mph - 600bhp
3dr 183.0mph - 510bhp

Was hoping to join the 3dr list however times are hard and chasing numbers is now out of my price range but fair play to those who have achieved what they have
Never been proven, was jokes of 220mph down the M42 years ago mind
I was in Steve Scotts Focus when Steve tried to get Karl to race at Brunters but Karl just kept a steady speed then pulled over

Lee has done some cracking 0-60 0-100 times in his cossies to be fair AND some with not massive power too iirc..

Someone mentione ELE he ran 178.6 at Brunters against the mighty Rainbirds 180.9 & Bruces 182.6mph all on the same day it was watching that battle that started me on the slippery slope.
When i first joined the Cosworth ranks the Turbosystems car was Topdog amongst the rwd cars running past 179mph. It was Mike that broke the 180 barrier an incredible feat back then. Bruce was first rwd past 190 & then some twat started to take it seriously .
1/4mile & 0-60 was the territory of 'twinkle toes cattermole' .

i admire the guys going for top speed runs but i would shit myself at 180mph in a sierra lol....
but out of intrest what would mine do...
fully worked engine ( standard compression tho) forged pistons
long studded/ wrc gasket
fully worked head
custom cams to suit spec
gt35 external waste gate
autronic sm4
83lbs siemens
r&b motorsport swedish
spec r breather set up
makes full boost by 3.5k aswel
mapped by mark hopefully next month
standard gear box rebuilt ()
quaife diff
17X8 wheels with 215/40 tyres
in a 3dr.... and hoping for 520bhp+ with good torque

With a 3.9 ratio diff at 8000rpm you will do 181mph but if you are relying on you standard speedo and tacho then you will be miles off.
A mate of mine had his saff timed at brunters, the speedo needle was pointing straight down so well off the clock and the timing gear came back at 168.8mph so do not rely on them

Nice to hear about these 3 doors again, where is Cattermole's 3 door these days? he could out launch 4wd's with that, so who has the best 1/4 mile time? 2wd and 4wd, Cattermole and kev sharp? I'd love to see Martins escort go on the 1/4 mile, low 10/high 9?

Jesus christ! That will easily be a 9 second pass then, he should enter ten of the best just to remind the japanese cars that there's life in the old cossies just yet.

Cosworths were doing 200 mph and going around corners just as well, over 20 years ago.

James,
Bruces 3rd was the car to have back in the day lad, pf wasn't about then, remember bein on rsoc with the ols school crew when it was NICKED off a trailer outside a pub Afaik while the lads were inside noshin...had to have been sent abroad in whole or parts as their were some very one off bits on it, tryin to remember what the fancy front setup was, sinle nut hubs maybe, anyone remember
So you sold the collection for the tc, is it complete, a buddy of mine can do a proper engine to rival any modern spec, old 500 spec been left behind a bit now....

We have some tyres from a friend who said they're awesome so will try them, on race fuel and full boost should be on for 150 passes and anything that starts wi a 9 would be nice!
