Default car insurance going bonkers!

i have no convictions, no claims, 10 years ncd, 2k miles a year on classic insurance on my fiesta 250bhp with the nitrous

in 2009 was with greenlight and paid £450 fc with agreed valuation
in 2010 greenlight stopped the agreed valuation
so went back to hic and they done me a 'special deal!' £650 fc with agreed valuation

now hic are asking for £750 for some it doesnt sound alot but i only do about 1.5k miles a year and if this carries on ill be paying nearly double next year compared to what i was paying every year between 2005-09

ive already spoken to hic and they saying it because of loads of accidents and claims being made as usual, most injury claims these days are a joke!

what would you do? any recomendations on insureres that also cover nos

Just had my renewal come through for my daily and that's up £300 despite the fact I've another year's NCB. Getting silly, like the price of fuel.

Sounds almost too good to be true - do they have a proper agreed value, and will they actually pay out in the event of the worst happening? If so - everyone get on to these guys!!

i can see why a lot of people dont bother with insurance, £200 fine and 6 points IF you are caught!

and even if you crash, just drive off and deny it, like the cunts did to me. dont bother to reply to the NIP's. and when you go for questioning with the cops, continue to deny it and there is fuck all they can do!

great isnt it!

My friends little brother (17) has just got a nice little Mk 2 fiesta 500 pound and the cheapest he can insure it for is 3500 now that is shit and they are just cashing in on people cause of course a 17 year old is going to want to drive and I dread what it will be like when my son is 17 ( he is 2 and a half) , all that will happen is one day you will be out with the family and a uninsured drive will stove into you , maybe if they weren't such greedy cunt like the banks and government and said hay your insurance is 2k and if after a year you don't claim then you can have 1k back then they would pay it and look at it as a good thing and think twice about claiming but thats to fucking easy , the rich get richer once again

have insurance companies actually got genuine data showing a increase for last years claims that matches the increase of on average 37% this year??? especially considering the increase the year before!! or are they sneakily adding an extra 15% just to fuck us over???

Considering insurance premium tax is a tiny percentage, im surprised the government arent trying to intervene to win some cheap votes.

Performance direct are a joke I phoned the about 10 years ago ( lol) and they said that they could only insure the value of the car at 3k so I said if you can find a nice 3 dr for sale for that then I would do it but till the fucking do one , 90 percent of them take the piss bike insurance is no different as they send you a renewal for more money then I phone them with the arse then the bloke on the other end of the phone go we always put a little bit on so I will take that off here you go sir ( I ain't actually a sir lol but I was for one second ) any then they stopped trying to bum me for another year , but why not just do that anyway instead of pissing people off , dicks

My insurance went up 200 odd quid this year too for no reason.

Insurance is a joke, very quick to take as much money as they can, and you KNOW they make it as difficult as possible for you when you do need their help.

It should be well under that.

I am insured with Peter D. James for 3 cars ATM. Granted, none of mine are turbocharged, but I was told that as long as you don't have any big fibreglass bodykits (a-la chav) and haven't done big engine conversions (i.e. base model engine to big turbo-charged one) then the price for the "standard" car is the same price you pay for modified. Yours will be a little higher, due to the fact you have a Cossie and they have bigger power increases, but as long as your brakes and suspension are up to it, I see no problems with them.

As for agreed values, they are underwritten by the same people who do most companies' Agreed Values, so you have as much chance of a payout as you would with anyone else.

Just a point to mention, Peter D. James is the "James" from Footman James. They went their separate ways a few years ago, and Peter D. James specialise in cars over 20 years old. You can have some younger cars on it, but you get some restrictions until they turn 20. One of mine is 19 years old and I am limited to 3k miles per year and pay £171. Next renewal it will be 20 years old during the insurance term, so apparently it will drop to about £140 (same as my others which are 20 or over) and no mileage restrictions.

As said above by Harris, all they want is 6 photos:
each of the four corners so that you see the whole car, including numberplates
engine bay overview
interior overview

That is it. You can email as many others as you want, they will keep them on file should anything happen and you need to claim, but the 6 above is all they have as a minimum.

Because they work on the theory that most people will stay with the same insurance company as it can be a pain to change everything over each year. Easy money if the customer just stays.

1 insure 9 cars on separate policies, and although everyone else's insurance went up by 30% average, mine all either stayed the same or went down, other than my Cinquecento that I use for work. That went up by £20 as that was the best I could get for those conditions. I just ring round every year and play everyone off against each other until I get a quote I am happy(ish) with.

well been in touch with the peter james people today about my saph 2000e cossie lookalike..and they said the mods etc make no difference to the premium... at £130 roughly, and thats fully comp, never had fully comp before,
they just said excess goes up a touch to 250 i think..but haha

so churchill, your getting fucked off with your third party fire and theft premium of nearly £500...

OH YES...
