My best was a B reg Fiesta 1.1 Ghia I brought off my bro's mate for £25. Spent a score on bits to get it through the MOT and was going to use it and one of my bro's other mates offered me £400 for it so I didn't get to drive the little mk2 more than 10 miles

The £400 covered more than half of the repair cost on the RST as well

Best one was an old K reg '72 mini that had been front ended. The guy wanted to swap for a push-bike so I wandered up the road and bought an old ladies bike for £4, cycled up to the blokes house and drove away in the mini, found £2 under the back seat, crowbar'd out the front so the lights sat straight and sold it for £200 the next day.

Worst was probably a Mk1 golf cabrio cost me nearly two grand as salvage many years ago. Never got round to repairing it and had to pay for the scrap-man to pick it up when I moved house last year.

Come to think of it, I reckon the Mini was the only car I've made any money on

1. Escort 1.6 Ghia - sold to a mate for £400 and he promptly wrote it off.

2. BMW 316 - I never really owned as I had it for a fortnight from a garage my Dad was very friendly with to see if I liked it. I didn't so it went back and my cash went on the RST

3. Mk2 Fiesta - mentioned above.

4. Dutton Phaeton S3 - shared with my bro which we sold before getting going. We were given it and got £300 for it so were pretty pleased.

5.XR2i - written off

I've no intention of selling the RS and we have the A4 as well which I want to get rid of but the wife won't let me

Very similar to me that... Worst was my first car, Fiat Uno, had it up for sale for months and MONTHS on my drive and no one wanted it Finally got a call while I was at work one day, some lads were outside my gaff interested in buying it, so I took my lunch break there and then, shot home, didn't even go out for test drive, just started it up and it ran, he handed over the cash and off he went - I even had time for a sandwich before I went back to work

Best was my 3i. Although I had it up a little while, this guy called me from Ireland, really really wanted it, two weeks later they flew in to Stansted, got a cab to mine, paid me bang on my asking price and drove it away! Simple as that

A 205 GTi I bought for £150 off someone with MOT (I needed a car there and then!) sold it 6 months later after 10k miles and not a penny spent for £205 with no MOT
