Default my escort van 55d (now officially a ford owner haha)

alright guys i feel im now worthy of being on this site as i now own a ford lol

here is the one in question
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_500wt_949

i collected it yesterday morning very tidy and even the interior was spotless which i was surprised by, no welding looks to have been done but its looking dry underneath so its going on the ramps get steamed off then the following week a good coat of waxoyl

one thing i have noticed is that there seems to be a slight leak (diesel) on the front offside any ideas ? oh its been fitted with a 1.8 turbo diesel intercooled engine as well

Offside front is where the fuel pump is, may be worth checking all the connections.

escort vans are wicked
i bought my non turbod version to go work in a couple of month ago for 500 quid and i love it.
I park it anywhere, its mint on diesel and slow as fook which makes my car at weekends feel even quicker
Ive added some puma wheels to mine and gave at machine polish which really made a difference.
im now awaiting my mate to lower it for me. or should i say slam it

iv seen your van about stoke fella looks good. onto the other points/suggestions im not sure bout putting alloys on it but if i do i wouldnt mind some 16" mondeo ones.

the leak is coming from drivers side front by the bumper iv also got a leak coming into the van on front passenger side it seems like coolant ?
i also gave my van a good well needed t-cut and some cheapo tesco wax/polish it come up ok

does anyone have any idea what this td intercooled engine is that i have in my van ? it pulls ok and has a bit of turbo lag lol iv texted previous owner but no reply

Re: Remapping,

Those engines are very (if not completely) mechanical, so if you want it to go faster, get your spanners and allen keys out

i used to have escort vans at work when they were about. i was talking to the mechanic one day about how slow it was so he opened the fuel pump up a bit..made quite a bit of difference but it was chucking out a fair bit of black smoke so had it put back to normal.

no smoke no poke lol, Tools needed hammer and flat blade screw driver to get the black cap off the pump, 4mm allen key 14mm spanner,

Put the car / van in 5th, remove balck cap from front of pump with tools above, now nick ya mrs's make up mirror from her hand bag (wipe diesel finger prints off after use lol) use mirror to look in the hole rock the car back or forward untill you see a cam lobe looking thing with an allen key, then use above 4mm alllen key turn 30 / 40 degrees clockwise screw plastic cap back on with ya fingers as tight as possible,

Next shorten the actuator rod a few turns to start with, i advise using a boost gauge which needs to be tee'd into the pipe between the turbo and actuator,

Check boost your looking for 18 / 20 psi no more on standard cooler and turbo,

You want it to burn clean on boost so if its smoking flat out do the above but come back 5 or 10 degrees,

If its smoking offf boost play with the boost compensator (big gold nut to the right of the black cap) some say screw it in some say out try it and see what works for you,

You wont totally get rid of it though so dont try to, i went in with mine and controlled most of it with my right foot,

decat it aswell hth

Edited to say this will only work on lucas pumped td ' tdi's,

Does yours say 1.8 diesel or endura de on the rocker cover?
